Known for her compelling, gritty plays, Collin’s fourth production CPOW is the story of 17-year-old Midnight, who gets “caught up” in the sex trafficking industry in East Oakland.  Midnight is a troubled girl who navigates her way through this tumultuous life.  The Question Is: How did she get caught up, and is she able to escape the game and survive?

Sunday Suppers Penrose Fundraiser for MISSSEY

Taking place through April 2015, Sunday Suppers is a monthly event hosted by Penrose, a socially conscious restaurant serving wood-fired Californian cuisine, that brings together spectacular food and good company to raise money for a different East Bay organization working on behalf of the community. MISSSEY has been selected as one of these organizations for the month of March–meaning that proceeds from this event will support our work with trafficked youth!

Local author Alison Hart joins Books Inc. in Alameda for a Launch Party in celebration of her stunning collection of poetry,Temp Words. A meditation on impermanence told from Alison’s perspective as an American of mixed-race, Temp Wordsreflects themes such as death, outrage, temptation, identity, and transcendence.

Please join us and attend MISSSEY’s first “Legislative & Policy Committee” taking place June 16, 2015 at 7PM at the MISSSEY office.  Yolanda Smith and Rose Mukhar will be co-chairing this Committee and they are both excited about the possibilities of creating legislation and policy on behalf of trafficked youth.

The focus of this committee will be on advocacy and helping to create local policies and statewide legislation concerning trafficked youth, ages 18 years and younger.
