MISSSEY's housing program supports young women and gender-expansive youth in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties to find safe and stable housing.

We collaborate with young people, 18 - 25, who are vulnerable to exploitation, to understand their unique needs and provide tailored support, including temporary placements, emergency hotel accommodations, emergency rental assistance, and other housing solutions. Our ultimate aim is to secure safe and permanent housing for the young people we serve. Participants in our program receive trauma-informed coaching and wraparound services, as well as referrals to supportive programs that address their psychological, social, and mental health needs, along with physical, emotional, and financial well-being. This holistic approach equips youth to maintain stable housing and experience healing in all areas of their lives. Together with young people and our partners, we are creating spaces that foster healing and break cycles of exploitation.

A zero-barrier service where any youth affected by sexual violence or exploitation may receive 1:1 support and coaching toward goals they set for themselves.

MISSSEY’s intensive transformation coaching (formerly, case management) programs provide survivor- and trauma-informed, culturally relevant, and strengths-based support to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment. We connect youth with a coach within 24 hours of receiving a referral. The staff assigned for that intake outreach is the person most likely to continue engagement with that youth in the long term. This structure allows for trust and relationship building to begin with the youth, family, and other providers immediately. This alleviates the need for youth to tell their stories to multiple providers, as one person will be with them from intake to program completion, learning their histories, goals, triggers, challenges, and resources.
Our Transformation Coaches work closely with systems-involved (juvenile justice or child welfare) and non-systems-involved youth ages 12-24 who are highly vulnerable to or already victimized by CSEC to assist with overall stability, including court advocacy, connections to medical and mental health professionals, housing, educational and vocational programs, and basic needs support. The timeline for coaching is based on the goals set by the young person and their progress. Our goal should be SMART: specific, measurable, audacious, and actionable, with outcomes that the young person has identified for themselves as important and achievable within three months. For more information about MISSSEY’s coaching, email directservices@misssey.org
