Come out and dance in support of MISSSEY at Hipline's Shimmy Pop-A-Thon next Saturday, June 1st, 10am-2pm! A fun, family-friendly event in the Lakeshore neighborhood with great energy, people, and community. We hope to see you there!


2nd Annual We Run Oakland 5K Run/Walk for Human Trafficking Awareness

Our partner organization, A Sista's Touch, is hosting their 2nd Annual We Run Oakland 5K Run/Walk for Human Trafficking Awareness on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 8am-12pm! This is a great family-oriented, community-based event that provides opportunities to connect with folks in Oakland who are involved or interested in getting involved in the local movement to end exploitation and trafficking.

We receive event proceeds any time someone signs up for the run/walk and selects MISSSEY as their referrer, so register now with your friends and loved ones to support local anti-trafficking efforts! A fun way to be active--in the movement of your body and in the movement to end trafficking :)

Registration is $20 for children 10 and under, $25 for youth 11-18, and $35 for young and older adults 19 and up (adult price will increase after May 31st so register ASAP!).


S.H.A.D.E.'s 2nd Annual Human Trafficking Symposium: Breaking Barriers


Jump start National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month by attending S.H.A.D.E.'s 2nd Annual Symposium: Breaking Barriers on Friday, January 11th at the California Endowment Building in Oakland!

The survivor-led symposium will focus on barriers affecting boys and men who experience trauma, and how we can understand and support the self-recovery process through a survivor- and trauma-informed lens. Featuring survivor speakers including keynote speaker Russell Wilson, moderated panels, and breakout presentations. Light refreshments and lunch will be provided. All are welcome to attend!

S.H.A.D.E., (Survivors Healing, Advising and Dedicated to Empowerment) Movement is a survivor-based advocacy organization which empowers survivors of sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and domestic violence. S.H.A.D.E. believes that Survivor Leadership is paramount to creating positive change and empowerment within and outside of the anti-trafficking movement.

On Tuesday, June 19th MISSSEY is hosting a GroupRaise dinner fundraiser at alaMar Kitchen & Bar, a popular eatery for delicious seafood and mouth-watering Caribbean cuisine. Come by and eat between the hours of 5pm-9pm and 20% of proceeds are donated to our work with survivors of sex trafficking. Invite your hungry foodie friends and feast in support of MISSSEY! We Run Oakland For Our Daughters: Human Trafficking Awareness Walk

DO and A Sista's Touch are hosting their inaugural We Run Oakland human trafficking awareness walk on Saturday, June 9th at Lake Merritt! Proceeds from this event will fund the distribution of hygiene kits for vulnerable young women in the community. You can register to participate in the walk here.

The Dance - Derrick Bell Art Exhibition

An art exhibit that explores the injustices of human trafficking through color, emotion, and movement. Proceeds from artwork sales will support MISSSEY and our work with commercially sexually exploited and vulnerable youth.

The exhibition includes 50+ original mixed media paintings and drawings.
