A Victim's Age Doesn't Erase Her Exploitation or Trauma.

Misinformed individuals believe that once a CSEC (Commercially Sexually Exploited Child) turns 18, she instantly becomes a consenting, well-adjusted adult who cannot be exploited. This is absolutely false. Turning another year older does not erase a victim's history of being sex trafficked as a child, nor does it make her immune to future exploitation. In fact, CSE-TAY (Commercially Sexually Exploited Transition Age Youth) arguably need the greatest support out of the population we serve because they must adjust to the legal ramifications of being perceived as adults while still dealing with ongoing trauma that is further exacerbated by the aftereffects of trauma that occurred during their childhood and adolescence.
